Looking For A Worship Conference

Posted on the May 7th, 2007 under misc by Steve Eller

I am looking for a good worship conference to go to sometime this summer to refuel and recharge with other worship leaders. I have looked everywhere for a reasonably priced conference in SoCal, but I haven’t found one yet.

In the past I’ve been to worshiptogether.com conferences, and a couple put on by Soul Survivor. I know Saddleback has one this summer, but they are a little expensive for me. I have gotten so much out of these events. From new music, hanging out with friends and other worship leaders, to just hanging out with God in worship without having to lead. These conferences were very special to me, and I really wish I could locate something for this year.

I need your help. If you know of an event I am overlooking, please leave me a comment on this message. I need a recharge!

This is my father-in-law hanging out with Jay Leno at a car race. Jim helps
out on a race team and bumped into Mr. Leno.

it’s Official, It’s HOT

I just checked the temp outside and it is 90 degrees. Since we haven’t had hot weather for a while, it might as well be a hundred because it still feels hot! So much for a marine layer and May grey. Fortunately it hasn’t started to bake the back part of the house, where I am, yet.

To everyone S.D. county, keep cool.

Wordpress And Vox…Together

Posted on the May 7th, 2007 under misc by Steve Eller

I had abandoned my Vox blog a couple of weeks ago for my own hosted blog with Wordpress because I wanted to have a little more control over my blog. But, I did find a Wordpress plugin that will allow me to crosspost to my Vox account to keep in touch with some of you in my Vox neighborhood.

If you are interested, you can check it out here: Vox Crossposter

Darn Allergies

Posted on the May 7th, 2007 under misc by Steve Eller

Here I am again, really frustrated with my allergies. I have had allergies for quite a few years, but it seems like the last year or so have been the worst.

I have taken every prescription and over-the-counter drug you can take, but it seems to only be treating the symptoms, and not really solving the problem.

This is really affecting my singing. I feel like I am having to work harder than ever to sing. My pitch is suffering, and my voice quality is not where I know it can be.

So, I am done (at least until I can find a more holistic solution) with allergy meds. Here are a couple things I want to try:

  1. I want to look for a good hypo-allergenic diet so that I can begin to rule out food products. There may be something in my diet (please don’t be milk products), that is causing the problems.
  2. I was also reading an article from a voice teacher in New York that had similar symptoms, and went to a  holistic physician (I know this sounds new age), and discovered that his allergies were a reaction to a parasite. Read his article. Once his situation was addressed he was able to recover and sing at full strength again.

There are also a few other similar articles I have found.

Potentially, this could be the problem considering we had a leak under our house that we weren’t aware of last year, which created quite a bacteria farm. I know Candace was sick a lot year, and she really believes this flood was the problem. With being exposed to all this bacteria, who knows what may have been introduced into my system?

I don’t know if any of these ideas will produce a solution, but I do know that I am tired of not finding anything that really helps me.  Most importantly, I have been taking this to God, and I know He will get me through this. If not a direct healing (which God can do!), He will help me find a way to kick this thing.

Keep praying for me!
