55

So we are having this church retreat on evangelism, and we did this really cool exercise called 55 Word Fiction. 55 Word Fiction attempts to reduce writing to its most concise and central elements. We had to write out the essentials of the Gospel in 55 words or less. It really helps you distill down the essential elements of the Gospel in order to better communicate them. Now I am not a writer by any stretch of the imagination, but here is my attempt:

God is perfect, we are not. We can’t overcome the difference. We are separated by sin. God is love. God loves us. Jesus bridged the gap. He lived the perfect life, died and rose so that we are forgiven, and have new, abundant and eternal life. Our job is to tell the world what happened.

It is a challenge, and a lot of fun. Go at it and post your entries in the comments.
