We are going camping! We are making a trip to a nice campground in Valley Center near Escondido. My parents took our kids up a little early to get a head start on the fun. I had a meeting this afternoon, and rehearsal tonight, so Candace and I can’t join them until tomorrow.

We are looking forward to this little retreat because it has been quite awhile since we have made a camping trip with the family. I believe the last time, Cassandra was 3 and Matthew was less than a year old. We had a great time in Morro Bay, but it will be different this time with the kids being a little older, and able to enjoy it more.

I called my parents this afternoon, and the kids have already tried their hand at fishing. Apparently Cassandra caught a fish, but it fell off the hook when she was pulling it out of the water.

We are in for some fun! See ya…

Pencil Taken Out Of Head After 55 Years

Get ready to be grossed out. It is a good thing that there are no pictures!

A 59-year-old German woman has had most of
a pencil removed from inside her head after suffering nearly her whole
life with the headaches and nosebleeds it caused, Bild newspaper reported today.

Margret Wegner fell over carrying the pencil in her hand when she was four.

“The pencil went right through my skin – and disappeared into my head,” Wegner told the newspaper.

It narrowly missed vital parts of her brain. At the time no one
dared operate, but now technology has improved sufficiently for doctors
to be able to remove it.

The majority of the pencil, some 8cm (3.1 inches) long, was taken
out in an operation at a private Berlin clinic, but the 2cm tip had
grown in so firmly that it was impossible to remove.

Why Won’t People Express Themselves I Worship?

I am sure as worship leaders, if we are honest, we have asked this question, “Why don’t our people express themselves in worship?” I found an article by Stephen Newman (experiencingworship.com) dealing with this very subject, and I hope it is an encouragment to each one of us as we wrestle with this issue.

Undoubtedly, this is the question that has frustrated worship leaders and pastors for the past several hundred years. Why do some people jump up and down in worship and some won’t even open their mouths to sing? What is the problem? These are supposed to be people who love the Lord. They are supposed to be Christians, right? Who really knows why people act the way they do? The same person who won’t move a muscle in church will jump up and down at their favorite sports events cheering on their teams, or kids, with all the emotion of a cheerleader. How are we as worship leaders supposed to lead people and help them get excited about the Lord?
