Ok, so maybe I wasn’t cool to begin with, but I am done with trying to compare myself and my church with other “cool” worship leaders and ministries. Now you may never hear me say this out loud, but occasionally the thoughts of wanting our ministry to be like someone else’s church creep in my head. I see other “successful” ministries, worship leader/pastors that have the best production equipment, a vast surplus of musicians, mega growth, etc… and find myself coveting those same things for our ministry. Not a good thing. Just being honest.
Now I am not saying that we can’t learn anything from other people or ministries. I know that I have gleaned so much from worship types I network with, but it is unhealthy for us to think that the way others do things is way we have to do them.
So, here is my public declaration to rid myself of trying to be cool:
- IT IS NOT ABOUT ME!!!!!! - “I am crucified with Christ, and it is NO LONGER I BUT CHRIST that lives in me.” - Galatians 2:20
- God has placed me in a ministry that is authentically reaching out to people with the truth and good news of Jesus.
- He has equipped me to do the job he has called me to do. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” - Ph. 4:13
- I don’t need to be who I am not.
- I am satisfied with where God has placed me.
- I will be faithful to what God has entrusted me with.
Not a complete declaration by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a good start. ![]()
