Like every conference I seem to attend the last day is the most difficult to get out of bed. But I am glad I did. The opening session started with….drumroll…Abraham Laboriel and Paul Jackson Jr.. Wow, these guys are monsters. I have heard them on many recording, but I have never seen them live. Can they please come sit in at our church?
I was only able to able to go to one workshop, “Attracting Quality Musicians” by Tony Guerrero who is the Creative Arts Director at Saddleback Church. I was a little skeptical going in because I had read reviews of his book and a few people complained that the whole book was about hiring musicians. While there was an element of that in the workshop, there were other practical tips I think I can use.
A few of us got together for lunch and Alex McLean drove over from Temecula to hang out. If we we didn’t have any workshops, general conferences, etc… I think it would have been worth the $300+ to hang out with these guys. It was a great time to meet people that I have only contacted via blogs and twitter. We were able to share our stories, frustrations, hurts, and victories as worship leaders. There should be a conference for that alone.

Delirious closed out the final session with a rockin’ set. One of my faves. Bobby and I combined forces to stream this on Mogulus by attaching my video camera to his laptop rather than using his isight camera. We even had a visit from Tim on the feed. (Tim, we are going to have to find a way to get you here next year!)
Overall, I am so glad I was able to come this year. The workshops, networking, music, resources were all worth it, and Lord willing I will be back this time next year.
