What I Love About My Hometown #2

One of the cool things about San Diego is that most everything is within 2 hours or less. Skiing is close in Big Bear, playing in the snow is only 40min. away, and the beach is 10min minutes from our house.

Within this city of 2 million plus you would surpised that you can also escape to “the wilderness” with a couple of minutes. If you visit Mission Valley you can walk along the shores of the San Diego River and never really notice you are in the middle of a major city.

Recently Candace took a hike up Cowles mountain which is about 15 min. from our house. We used to hike this small mountain quite a bit B.K. (before kids), but we decided to start hiking it again. Cowles has great views of the east county and central San Diego. Here are a few pics we took. We even found a few geocaches while we were there.

Where is your escape?

  2. @eric - Didn’t I hear you grew up in Santee?

Also heard you got to hang out with our pastor down in Mexico a few weeks ago. Small world.

My wife and I hiked Cowles a month or so ago and are hoping to start hiking it more frequently. It’s a good challenge and definitely worth it when you get to the top.
