I love acapella music, but these guys take it to another level. Check it out.
Guess What? @betterthanblank Came To My Neighborhood
Another reason to use Twitter. So I am working on my computer and I saw a Twitter update that Alex had to take his daughter to Children’s Hospital in San Diego. That post caught my eye because I literally live about a 3min. drive from the hospital. I was able to head up there and hang with Alex. I also got to meet his wife Jen and daughter Macy (so cute).
Twitter is sooo cool!

I know I haven’t been putting much on my site lately. I have been really busy lately. Lots of web work, jamming to finish getting everything ready for the Surfaris coming on 6/29, kid’s camp in July, etc… all before I go the Saddleback Worship Conference in two weeks, and vacation the week following that.
So this post is to say I am still alive.

What would a Twitter from God look like?
I try to refrain from just copying something from somebody else’s blog, but I thought this was really cool. Thanks Churchsmo.

Suck Knob

How many sound guys out there have one these on their board?
“The “suck knob” is a myth I have created with bands, performers, and entertainers. I do sound at bars and events and stuff, and I set up their equipment. I got so sick of being asked to make them sound better than they were so I started saying that I would make sure and turn the suck knob down, like it was this magical thing. Turning the suck knob down means making everything sound a little better, making everything look a little better, and being in a happier place.” - Sean Ferrell, Sound Engineer, San Diego, CA

I Am Done With Trying To Be Cool
Ok, so maybe I wasn’t cool to begin with, but I am done with trying to compare myself and my church with other “cool” worship leaders and ministries. Now you may never hear me say this out loud, but occasionally the thoughts of wanting our ministry to be like someone else’s church creep in my head. I see other “successful” ministries, worship leader/pastors that have the best production equipment, a vast surplus of musicians, mega growth, etc… and find myself coveting those same things for our ministry. Not a good thing. Just being honest.
Now I am not saying that we can’t learn anything from other people or ministries. I know that I have gleaned so much from worship types I network with, but it is unhealthy for us to think that the way others do things is way we have to do them.
So, here is my public declaration to rid myself of trying to be cool:
- IT IS NOT ABOUT ME!!!!!! - “I am crucified with Christ, and it is NO LONGER I BUT CHRIST that lives in me.” - Galatians 2:20
- God has placed me in a ministry that is authentically reaching out to people with the truth and good news of Jesus.
- He has equipped me to do the job he has called me to do. “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” - Ph. 4:13
- I don’t need to be who I am not.
- I am satisfied with where God has placed me.
- I will be faithful to what God has entrusted me with.
Not a complete declaration by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a good start. ![]()
Internet Explorer, Are You Kidding Me?
I just installed Firestats on my blog, because I wanted a really simple, real-time stats plugin to replace Google Analytics. I started looking at my stats, granted it has only been 24 hours, but this is what I found:

Are you kidding me? Most of the people visiting are using IE. I am hoping that this is because of the small sample size. Wow! Hear my cry. GET RID OF INTERNET EXPLORER, and use a more secure and standards compliant browser like Firefox, Safari, Flock. Anything but IE. I beg you!!
Rant over. Go back to what you were doing.
